BACKGROUND

Menok spent his childhood in a small gnomish community led by priests of Urdlen, the evil god of greed and bloodlust. His father had joined the church of Urdlen shortly after Menok's mother had died. Menok's job was to cut gems and make them into proper offering gifts to Urdlen.

Menok's conviction to the mole god was never significant, but because he was taught that this was the only true god, he never considered other options. His father tried to guide him to become a priest as well, but Menok never had the clarity of mind required of a priest. Because of this he was assigned the less appreciated chore of preparing the offerings. Menok still was taught the tenets of Urdlen's faith and because of that he has become as greedy as any priest of Urdlen.

Although Menok was unable to commune with gods and receive spells from them, at one point he realised that he could still cast spells of his own. He kept this secret because neither his father nor other priests approved of arcane spells. Menok's considerable talent with mage spells saved him however, when a large force of kobolds raided the cave of the Urdlen worshippers.

Menok managed to hide, while every other gnome was slaughtered by the reptilian bastards. Menok escaped the cave and killed a few kobold scouts with his spells on the way out, before they could kill him or sound the alarm. Now, he plans on getting his revenge. Menok didn't care about the priests, except for his father. After all the kobolds have been burned and mutilated beyond recognition, Menok plans to develop further his rare ability to cast spells spontaneously without preparing them.
